This course aims to cover a variety of English texts to be translated into Arabic. Do not panic ! It is not a long and drudgery task as you accustomed to do! We will start step by step and the good news is that you will work with others. So, there is always a help. Imagine that we are only one team. So, from now on our motto is TEAM WORK.
We are going to cover five linguistic-related topics which are significant and relevant to translation. You will find a short description of each part at the beginning of each link. A single topic within each part will be chosen to be discussed in details in our meeting on a weekely basis. In addition to our weekely meeting, the wiki will give extra time to work on long excercises by adding, removing or editing the original text.
We need to work online by giving our opinion, speaking will be the medium of communication. Every one of you has to set up a skype ID. To have a skype ID, click on this link. After signing up your personal skype ID, add the class ID (translation_QU) to your contact list. The Skype will be used for questions and discussions outside of class times.
Do not worry, we will practice that in the lab in the first two weeks.
The sections that will be covered are:
1) Context and Register.
2) Word order and reference.
3) Time: tense, mood, and aspect.
4) Concepts and notions.
